    The Canadian Autoworkers Union says Ford Canada is laying off 489 employees at its engine plant in Windsor, Ontario. Marc Renaud, vice president of a local union chapter, said Thursday that Ford Motor Co. is closing down one shift at the Windsor Engine Annex starting Nov. 1 as part of a plan announced earlier this year.
